GCC Inaugurates GramCar Project Services with a New Service Model in Bheramara
July 18, 2016 – GCC kicks off GramCar project services today with a new service delivery model in Bheramara Upazila of Kushtia district covering entire Bheramara Pourashova and all 6 unions of the Upazila, i.e., Chandgram, Bahirchar, Mokarimpur, Bahadurpur, Juniadaha and Dharampur. In this new service model, one single car with the banner of GramCar will be shared by 7 Health Assistant for providing healthcare service as well as social goods delivery service as e-Commerce service in 30 service points in rotation in the Upazila. The car drops the Health Assistants at their respective service points every morning and pickup them in the evening. They provide basic health checkup and general healthcare services at the service point in the morning and provide the same services in the afternoon by visiting patients at their homes in the community. There is one local support staff with each Health Assistant who assists for delivering healthcare service as well as in the social goods order collection and delivery service. Besides the drop and pickup service to the Health Assistants, the car provides Demand Responsive Transportation (DRT) service and emergency transportation service in the community. GramCar project manager Mr. Rajib Chakrabarty was present in the inauguration ceremony at Bheramara along with other project members. This is an enhanced service model of ‘Social Services on Wheels’ program under GramCar project.
Besides, GCC restarts the urban Demand Responsive Transportation (DRT) service again in Dhaka city in the same day using another vehicle of GramCar. As a part of this service, this car also supports GramHealth: PHC project to reach the healthcare service to the registered clients in Dhaka city at their homes.
