International Interns of Yunus Centre Visited GCC

July 21, 2016 – A group of 19 International students from Netherlands (Leiden University College the Hague, The Netherlands), Turkey (Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey), Canada (University of Toronto and York University), USA (Summer School at Harvard University, Cornell University and Earlham College) and Bangladesh (Asian University for Women, United International University, ULAB, Eastern University, North South University, Jagannath University and Sunbeams School) has visited Global Communication Center (GCC) at Grameen Bank Complex, Mirpur, Dhaka. The team visited Bangladesh under Immersion Program, which aims to provide young minds with an opportunity to learn about the concept of social business. In this connection, they also visited GCC to know of our latest ICT based research activities for the unreached communities as part of their study.

Dr. Rafiqul Islam Maruf (Director, GCC) welcomed them to the office. Later on, they attended a presentation session on the distinguished research activities of GCC. The young interns from various countries appreciated the innovative research ideas and projects of GCC in various areas. They showed their keen interest specially in participating in the International Research Opportunity Program (IROP) of GCC in future and take the opportunity to research on the rural infrastructure and livelihood in a developing country like Bangladesh.
