GCC Organized 2nd Grameen-Sunpower Social Business Startup Tour-2019

On Sept 30- Oct 3, 2019, a group of 9 CEOs’/Directors’ from different Japanese companies visited Grameen organizations under Social Business Exposure Program (SBEP) to see social business activities and to experience how social business is working and playing role in solving social problems in Bangladesh.

The tour was organized by Global Communication Center (GCC). The core objective of this initiative was to seek potential business opportunities and to transform these opportunities into Joint Ventures (JV) between Grameen and Japanese companies.

On first day of the program, a short tour to Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition Museum was arranged followed by a presentation session from 3 Grameen organizations for the visitors addressing the social business activities and its impact on different sectors of our country. The organizations were Grameen Euglena Ltd., Grameen Distribution Limited and Grameen Trust Ltd.

On the following days, the team participated in a 2 days long scheduled field trip program and experienced some of the Yunus’s Social Business initiatives of Grameen Shakti, G. Japan Sunpower Auto Ltd., Grameen Bank and Grameen Veolia Water Limited.

The participants also attended a meeting session with Prof. Muhammad Yunus experiencing his memorable and glorious journey in social business and shared their thoughts and queries with him. On last day of the program, the Japanese team had a presentation session from the Executive Director of Yunus Centre followed by a group presentation session on proposed JV initiatives by the team members.

At the end of the program, the Japanese team expressed their gratitude and satisfaction. They realized, it was a fruitful visit indeed in terms of the purpose of the SBEP program. They also conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the team of GCC for their sincere cooperation to make it happen everything according to the objective.
