March 12, 2016 – A team consisting of 3 members from Global Communication Center (GCC) of Grameen Communications attended a tri-nation telemedicine workshop titled “India-Japan-Bangladesh Telemedicine Workshop” in Jaipur, India through March 6 – 12, 2016. It was organized in joint collaboration with Jaipur Rural Health and Development Trust (India), Kyushu University (Japan) and Grameen Communications (Bangladesh) and supported by Biyani Group of Colleges, India. During the workshop session, GCC team trained 12 persons including faculties, students of Biyani Group of Colleges and rural healthcare staffs. This 7 days visit included 3 days in-house training and 2 days field demonstration training at Kalwar and Jobner village of Jaipur. The other members of GCC team led by Zahidul Hossein Ripon (System Analyst) were Rajib Chakrabarty from Business Development & Field Operations unit and Jiaur Rahman from Healthcare Service unit. A research team working on healthcare consisting of senior students and faculties of Kyushu University (KU) also joined this program under the leadership of Dr. Ashir Ahmed, Ph.D. (Associate Professor of Department of Advanced Information Technology, Kyushu University).

The prime objective of this participation of GCC was to ensure the expansion of GramHealth: Portable Health Clinic (PHC) program in India. Now Jaipur Rural Health and Development Trust (India) has started piloting of the GramHealth service in Kalwar and Jobner village and it will be expanded to other villages gradually.
