GCC Arranged A Promotional Health Camp at Mirpur Community, Dhaka

On January 30, 2019- GCC organized a day long promotional health camp at Mirpur community, Dhaka to demonstrate its innovative GramHealth: Portable Health Clinic (PHC). GCC team provided free medical health checkup and doctor consultancy for the families living in this apartment. This program served a total of 31 patients from 15 families of whom 16 patients received doctor consultancy support. And also 3 patients became our registered member of GramHealth: PHC program.

 

The objective of this program was to create awareness among people living in this apartment and promote the importance of preventive healthcare. By this program, some patients got their health status poor but they did not know of it before as they did not go through any health checkup in recent past. Most of the residents remarked this as a very useful initiative and expressed a great appreciation for the program. They expected to have such programs again in future also.

 

During this program, a team of 6 students from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), China visited the health camp guided by Mr. Sam C. Ro, Associate Teaching Professor of SJTU. They observed the demonstration of overall PHC health checkup procedure. The team delightfully appreciated this initiative taken by GCC and expressed their interest to replicate the PHC model in rural areas of China.

 

Later on, they attended a presentation session on the distinguished research activities of GCC at Grameen Communications. Ms. Nazneen Sultana, Managing Director of Grameen Communications, chaired the session. After that, Prof. Sam and his students discussed different aspects of Social Business and research activities of GCC. The participants highly appreciated the innovative and useful research ideas and projects of GCC in various sector of social services and showed their keen interest in the research projects of GCC.
